Source-checked editorial dossier

Three honest publication depths

The 12 editorial dossiers combine verified identity, pedigree, named connections, historical career totals, selected achievements, substantial original narrative, and section-level institutional references. The wider catalog uses community-maintained Wikidata records for discovery without pretending those records received the same editorial treatment. A current source-checked profile, beginning with Bacio, adds dated form and campaign context from named official sources.

Every surface names its record depth. A source index is a useful trailhead, not a finished biography. A structured source profile has a stronger set of linked identity fields. A current source profile is substantial original research whose status facts are explicitly dated. An editorial dossier is the historical deep-reading collection.

Personal research tools

The star on a horse card or profile adds that horse to a watchlist stored in this browser. The watch desk keeps dossiers together, matches exact horse names and saved aliases against the current news window, and marks coverage published since the previous watchlist visit. It does not pretend that an exact-name match is a complete news search, and it never turns an early Derby watch into an official ranking.

Profile reading paths use only relationships visible in the archive: recorded lineage, named connections, discipline, breed or studbook, place, and foaling period. Each path explains the matching field so that a reader can test the connection instead of trusting a black-box recommendation.

Accounts and community work

Gallimore's shared account service is being designed as a separate security boundary. Until its verified OIDC contract, durable storage, comment moderation, rate limits, and account controls are active, EquinAtlas keeps watchlists device-local and does not present likes or comments as synchronized community data.

Images and reuse

The catalog never assumes that an image link grants reuse rights. Each displayed Wikimedia Commons asset must identify an accepted public-domain, CC0, CC BY, or CC BY-SA license, and its creator, file page, license, and transformation details stay attached. The expanded backfill also requires the file to be the free lead image on the horse's exact linked English Wikipedia article and to pass a useful raster-image size gate.

Because source assets can include photographs, artwork, or monuments, broad catalog pages call them rights-reviewed source images. Where an exact modern race photograph exists but lacks display permission - as with Bacio - EquinAtlas links to the publisher-hosted profile and shows a clear pending state. It never substitutes a generic or lookalike horse. Read the media ledger.

What the archive does not do

EquinAtlas is not an official registry, wagering service, marketplace, veterinary resource, or investment adviser. It does not mass-copy race charts, proprietary figures, rankings, commercial availability, stud fees, health claims, or individualized advice. Dated targets remain targets, not results.

Horse welfare

Horse comfort, capability, and welfare come before a research or riding outcome. Educational material remains unavailable until it has named human equestrian review.
